MAHWAH, NJ, June 6, 2008 -- At its recent annual member meeting, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) elected Sharp’s Bob Scaglione as second vice chair of its Board of Directors. As senior vice president and group manager of Sharp’s product and marketing group, Scaglione oversees marketing and product development for Sharp’s lineup of consumer and professional display products; consumer audio and video products; and appliances. Sharp’s involvement with AHAM spans the microwave oven, cooking, air cleaner and air conditioner product categories.

“As one of the industry’s leading microwave oven manufacturers for more than 30 years, Sharp has been an active member in AHAM for more than 25 years,” said Michael Troetti, president, Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America. “We’re proud to represent AHAM in a key leadership role and look forward to deepening the company’s relationship with this vital trade association.”

Other Sharp executives play an active role in AHAM by serving in various leadership positions and collaborating on industry issues. Tom Kelly, associate director of product planning and development, serves on several technical committees related to home appliances, including portable and room air conditioners, microwave ovens and air cleaners. Wayne Myrick, associate director of product safety for Sharp’s Service and Solutions Group, works closely with AHAM on standards, engineering, safety and service issues.

Previously, Anne Howard, a consultant for Sharp, held a multi-year tenure as chairperson of the Microwave Oven Council. Joy Daniel, now a consultant for Sharp, was awarded the prestigious Home Appliance Industry Leadership award in 2003 for her longstanding industry leadership. Most notably, Daniel represented the appliance industry and AHAM before the Department of Energy, providing key testimony on microwave oven energy usage in regards to efficiency regulations.
